Christmas Tree Treasures

This past Sunday afternoon, our family put up the Christmas tree. It is an older 9 ft tree that is assembled in 3 parts. The bottom section of this tree has had the lights replaced and they actually work. The other 2 sections have lights that do not work so we just add 2 strings of lights and the tree looks fine. I am often asked why I don’t just buy a new tree and I answer that this one is a beautifully shaped full tree with plenty of strong branches to hold our vast collection of ornaments. And I...

December 7 Past and Present

December 7, only 18 days until Christmas and the countdown is on…can you get it all done? She could entertain 2 people to 20 and would make it seem effortless and every person that entered her house felt welcome. She said that it takes very little effort to make people feel welcome and you can always give guests tasks to do. It will make them feel...

Here come the holidays!

Just like that, we have raced past Halloween and Veterans Day and now we are smack up against Thanksgiving. Here at Fredericksburg Farms we are signing up for what we will bring to our Thanksgiving feast next Monday here at work. Reading over the list makes me hungry and I start thinking about which recipe I have that sounds good. I find that the best recipes are usually found on cookbook pages that are worn and stained, meaning that they have been made many times and have been deemed “keepers.” And then there are those that are kept only in...
