A Special Day for Dads

Fredericksburg Farms

Father’s Day was first celebrated on June 19, 1910, in the state of Washington, but it was not official until 1972. President Woodrow Wilson had made Mother’s Day official 58 years earlier, so I guess we were slighting all of the dads by not giving them a special day for over a half century. Dads are special men as are others that may not be actual dads but serve as father figures. I will just say that I had a great dad and an awesome stepfather as well. I am very lucky to be blessed with many memories of them both since they are both gone now. Just thinking of them as I write these words makes me smile. Happy Father’s Day, Daddy and Daddy-Bob!
