Groundhog Day
As you read this we will have already learned whether or not Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow earlier this week to predict an early Spring or six more weeks of Winter. That may work in Pennsylvania, but I prefer the weather prediction methods of Hill Country “Omas.” Oma is what the Hill Country Germans call their grandmas. A good friend once told me that his Oma said, “if we had thunder in January there would be a freeze in April.” I have checked this out and it has proven true more often than not. So since we did have thunder and lightning during the rain on the 23rd, I will be looking for a freeze in April. Take that, Phil!
