Halloween

A jack-o-lantern

Halloween originated from the celebration of All Hallow’s Eve or evening in early English times. Through the years the celebration turned from a pagan and a religious one to a secular celebration for children. Trick or treating in costume has become a huge thing in the United States. These days both kids as well as adults search for just the right costume months before and the Halloween costume business is truly a big business. Today we are a long way from borrowing mom’s sheets to become ghosts or raiding her makeup drawer to draw on fake cuts and stitches for the perfect ghoulish monster face. I don’t think I will have to do anything about a costume anymore…I can just look at myself in the mirror and that face staring back is scary enough! Happy Halloween, y’all!
