Imagine that!

Last Wednesday I was working at my desk when one of our guys from the sales department asked me if I knew that we had been featured on the Today show. Well the answer was no. It turns out the Today show was featuring foods for tailgating that were picked by chefs and featured in Food & Wine magazine. I watched an online link of the show’s broadcast of that featured segment, and there displayed proudly was our Fredericksburg Farms South Texas Salsa Verde and the hosts of the show were tasting it. I must say that seeing our little company’s salsa on national TV being tasted by Al Roker was exciting, and it made me get a tear on my eye at the same time. It is a long way from my husband and I testing salsa recipes in our kitchen and wondering if we would ever get one that could be produced commercially. Mr. Roker commented that our salsa had some heat, and he could feel it at the back of his throat. I felt it too, Mr. Roker, but it was not from a spicy taste of salsa but rather from being choked up by the realization of how far we’ve come. I wish my late husband Steven was here to enjoy the recognition along with the many employees past and present that have gotten us where we are today. It was a moment!
