Is it Fall yet?

When the calendar page turns to September often times the picture shown on the calendar is one of a harvest scene or apple picking and the people in that picture are wearing jackets! It is a for sure sign they are not experiencing a “Texas” September. Here September slides in on the heels of August and the thermometer fails to take notice. Temperatures remain in the 90’s and the only activity one looks forward to still involves a swimming pool. Football games in September test the true fans’ loyalty in deciding to swelter in the stands, or to watch the game on TV while sitting on the couch in air conditioning. So is it fall yet where you live? Here the only fall nod is the autumn hued leaves fighting for attention with the dried ears of corn, sunflowers and fake pumpkins artfully arranged on the mantel. It’s like hanging up the stockings for Santa… we’re ready for ya Fall, show yourself!  Hope springs eternal for that first cool crisp morning!
