It is almost Peach Season!!

Box of peaches

The peach season begins in the Fredericksburg area in May with the early varieties which are cling peaches. Cling refers to the flesh of the fruit being attached to the seed or pit. These cling varieties are used to make one of my favorite peach products, spiced peaches that my grandmama called “pickled peaches.” Making these is a labor of love and one I don’t do often. Several years ago, my oldest son won the “the best home product” at our local Gillespie County Fair with his great grandmother’s recipe for pickled peaches. Peach ice cream is another favorite treat…mmm…homemade vanilla ice cream with fresh peaches swirled through. And perhaps the best of all, taking a bite of a juicy fresh peach and having the juice drip down your chin. Come to Fredericksburg and experience this for yourselves, and in the meantime check out our Fredericksburg Farms Juicy Peach Collection!
