Many years ago, brides and grooms posted engagement announcements in local newspapers several months prior to the actual wedding, and then a wedding announcement after the event had occurred. In the month of June there would often be several pages with photos of brides and corresponding articles about all the details of the day from describing the wedding gown to the corsages worn by the mothers of the bride and groom. These articles were carefully clipped from the newspaper and became keepsakes of the day. Our daughter married in June some years ago and I have a copy of her wedding announcement carefully tucked away. I need to take it our this year and show my granddaughter as I remember fondly that very special day in June,17 years ago.
