Some of my favorite memories from childhood are from road trips taken in our family station wagon. As kids we could hardly wait for summer to arrive so we could go on vacation. In the summers we would embark on long driving trips, sometimes to visit National parks and historic sites, or to visit a single destination like Disneyland or the San Diego Zoo. Other times we journeyed to Colorado to visit the same historic mining town that our family has visited since 1927. This week I am in that small, remote, Colorado town with family. We took two days to get here so we could stop at old familiar places along the way. Fishing, hiking, 4-wheel driving in a jeep, reading, painting, and lots of looking at the beautiful mountains surrounding our cabin are on our agenda this week. Don’t ever be bored in the summer, just get in the car and go somewhere new, sing silly songs, and play games! You will make priceless memories that will last a lifetime.
