Stock show time in Texas
Here in Gillespie County we concluded our annual Junior Livestock Show this past weekend. Our Watershed Ranch and our family business, Fredericksburg Farms, have both been sponsors of awards and buyers at the auction for many years. It is so encouraging to see these young exhibitors work hard in the show ring to show the animals they have fed and cared for months prior to the show. Taking responsibility for the care of an animal requires a sacrifice of free time but more importantly offers an opportunity to learn new skills. My own kids showed animals in this show when they were in school and now my granddaughter carries on the tradition. This was her 4th year showing chickens, and I say well done, Amelia, and congratulations to all of the 2026 exhibitors. However, for some kids this county show is only the first of many stock shows they will attend in the next weeks and months. Good luck!
