The State Fair of Texas is going strong, don’t miss it, don’t even be late!

I have always enjoyed the musical STATE FAIR. It is a great story about a rural family going to the state fair to exhibit their fair entries of hogs and mincemeat, hoping to win a coveted blue ribbon. That story takes place in Iowa but in my eyes any fair in Iowa can’t hold a candle to the fair in Dallas, Texas. I remember going to the Texas state fair as a kid and being overwhelmed by the size and scope of the event. It runs for weeks in late September through mid-October and offers something for everyone from football to vendors vying for the strangest fried foods. A giant cowboy “Big Tex” stands near the entrance, and his deep voice welcomes one and all. Just remembering makes me smile. If you have never been, pack up the family and go…it is a bucket list experience!
