Ruby Red Grapefruit collection

Winter makes me think of grapefruit. When I was a child my family looked forward to receiving a large basket of fruit from my grandmother. She ordered it from the Rio Grande Valley citrus farmers, and the selection always came in a very large wooden basket. Each piece of fruit was wrapped in tissue paper, and all were packed tightly in a crinkly straw material called excelsior. (At one time many things were shipped in baskets before the advent of cardboard.) But I digress as what I really want to recall is the smell of the fresh grapefruits. The grapefruits in our local grocery store were yellow inside but the ones from the valley were pink inside which of course made them special. Today we have the newer ruby red varieties of grapefruit which are the absolutely delicious, and can be found in every supermarket but they don’t bring the same anticipation and excitement as the old wooden basket filled with fragrant delights. At Fredericksburg Farms we have captured that ruby red grapefruit scent in bath and body products and candles too! You can even get them shipped to you in a wooden basket full of crinkly stuff…treat yourself or someone else!
