Rain!

Rain!

The welcome sound of raindrops greeted us here in the Hill Country this morning. Thunder rumbled and lightning flashed for a bit before we got the rain…a sprinkle at first then a few minutes of hard rain. Several of us stepped out on the porch and were rewarded with cool breezes and that wonderful smell that happens when rain hits the earth. When it subsided, I took note of the oak pollen tassels littering the sidewalk. Seeing that, I sincerely hope it will help out all of us allergy sufferers now that nature has given the air a good washing!

Smile

Smile

Smile at someone each day. Studies have shown that your blood pressure reading can go down if you are smiling. Just like other animals, humans look at one another’s facial expressions to determine how to react in differing situations. Hill Country Spring

The Texas weather is continuing to surprise us, going from fireplace weather to shirtsleeves weather in a few days. She was proud of an Irish heritage and lived most of her life in the Texas panhandle town of Shamrock. Shamrock is known for having the art deco Tower gas station that was the model for one in the animated move “Cars,” and for its annual St. Paddy’s Day celebration which includes...

Flapping in the Texas Breeze

Flapping in the Texas Breeze

March is WINDY this year and it reminds me of the incessant wind that I grew up with in the Texas Panhandle. Living up in that part of Texas, the wind blew year-round and often picked up a healthy portion of dirt and sand to blow into your face and irritate your eyes. Here, where we are, the wind comes and goes with different seasons…our grandkids are waiting for “kite-flying” weather; windy enough to loft your kite into the air to float gently back and forth above you, and not so windy it ends up in the next county. March...
