The calendar says September, but does it count as fall when it is almost 100 degrees outside?

We are done with August, and school has started but the thermometer says,” go jump in a pool and cool off!” Not so in the world of retail marketing. Labor Day has passed and we are headed toward Halloween, just look in the stores. Many have had Christmas out for weeks, and due to the pressure to start selling Christmas earlier and earlier, poor old Thanksgiving gets left behind when it comes to holiday marketing. You have to look quickly to spot a turkey or a Pilgrim hat before the winter wonderland takes over. Although, I would welcome a real...

We are gearing up for fall and holiday marketing

The calendar still says August but we are already in the throes of manufacturing our fall and holiday seasonal offerings. I have smelled the delightful scents of pumpkin and cinnamon, as I am walking around our facilities, soon to be followed by evergreen, peppermint and ginger as we are producing our seasonal air fresheners, candles and wax melts. New gift baskets for holiday sales are in the works and we will be photographing those next week. It is just 64 days until Halloween, 94 days until Thanksgiving, and a mere 129 days until Christmas! Established in 1881, this year will be the 136th edition of the eagerly anticipated event. All ages compete for those elusive blue ribbons. To top it all off there are two days of live horse racing, a queen’s contest,...

School is starting already!

In our area school will be starting on August 14, and some schools have already started their fall semesters. To my way of thinking, August hardly qualifies to be considered fall. Once upon a time school did not start until after Labor Day and school was dismissed by Memorial Day giving kids 3 full months of freedom from homework. We all understand now that 3 months was too long and many kids lost a good amount of what they had learned over the break. Say goodbye to long summers! So, even though it looks and feels like summer, be aware...

Shoutout to our Summer Workers

As we approach the end of the summer, Fredericksburg Farms wants to give a shoutout to our summer workers. They have diligently worked in production making products, in the warehouse picking and packing orders, and in construction helping to build out a new bathroom as well as helping to install air conditioners in the warehouse. We salute their hard work and appreciate them spending their summer with us! We will miss you all: Andy, Cameron, and Jacob, our Aggies, and Bailey and Ashely our favorite elementary school math teachers. Thank you all for helping us out this summer, we hope...
